Paneria
Location: Maiselova 24/4, Prague 1 (Walk left out of the Malé náměstí NYU Center)
Hours: Mon – Fri 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., Sat – Sun 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Price Range: 20 – 80 Kč
Website: www.paneria.cz
About a month into the semester, there will come a time when money seems a distant stranger. You search your pocket for 20 Kč – to no avail. But you’re hungry and irritable. Surely, you can’t be expected to tram home without some sort of edible compensation! That’s where Paneria comes in.
Paneria can be found pretty much anywhere in Prague, which is to say, it’s the
quintessential food chain. This fast-food café-restaurant hybrid has universal options: mozzarella bagels here, chocolate marble cakes there. Paneria’s ultimate appeal stems from its extremely cheap nature (and the fact that it can be found on almost every corner). You’ll notice a simple, clean interior. It’s nothing spectacular, but we’re not judging given our empty
pockets.
Go to Paneria for coffee breaks between classes, or casual meet-ups. It could be considered the Cosi of Prague (though steer clear of the salads here, for they in no way compare.) Come with chill expectations and you’ll find a hearty chicken or ham wrap, at little detriment to your mounting travel debt.
What to order:
1. Caprese bagel sandwich (52 Kč)
2. Pollo Judio wrap (chicken and blue cheese) (52 Kč)
3. Spinach Quiche (62 Kč)
